Zombie Doll

Well, finished another one.  This week was my week to finish unfinished projects hanging around my studio and I have to say I'm a bit proud of myself for getting the work done.
This Zombie Doll is a commission piece for someone who has a daughter that is a huge, well, Zombie fan.  I think it's a Christmas gift for her.  I suppose he figured he would get me early on before the holiday rush kicks in.  Smart guy!

This one was really fun,  I have been a zombie fan since way back when!!!!  Anything Zombie is cool with me.

Here's a picture of me as a Zombie while throwing a Zombie Halloween party back in 1995.

This is me last Halloween, Zombie, Zombie, Zombie

I tried Lesley Riley's Tap transfer Paper for this doll's dress and loved it. I have used iron transfer before and they just plain out sucked. This product is worth getting. It also claims to work on fabric, wood, glass, canvas metal & more. Can't wait to try it on other surfaces.  Check out the link below for more info on this awesome product

Just make sure your iron is set to hot and no steam - seriously only takes a few minutes.  Love!!!

Love Spells VooDoo Potion Box

Thinking of New Orleans.  One of my favorite cities in the world. I love walking around the Historic French Quarter and  rummaging through the shops.  One of my favorite's is Marie Laveau House of Voodoo on Bourbon Street.
I've always been fascinated with potion boxes.  I love the larger ones with dozens of little dusty bottles adorned with romantic and maybe not so romantic faded  labels.  I created this one for myself out of an old clock.  Assemblage art is just so much fun.

Working on a whole Dark History Series.  Having a lot of fun with this.  Although keeping it fresh and new has become a challenge since there are so many great artists who have depicted some of my subjects already.  But it's always fun to see what different artist's come up with.

Countess Elizabeth Bathory "The Blood Countess"

Countess Elizabth Bathory was accused of draining the blood of virgins and bathing in it. It's how she earned the title of a vampire. It is also noted that she occasionally bit the flesh of the girls during their torture. It is said that the reason Bathory bathed in blood was to retain her youthful looks and beauty, and she was, by all accounts, a most attractive woman.

The original plaster bust was given to me for free at a garage sale.

Here is my interpretation of her.
Her necklace symbolizes the virgin blood as the key to her everlasting youth.

The entire head was re-sculpted with paper clay, air dried and painted in acrylics.
