Armature

I have been working on metal armatures the last couple of days and let me tell you, there are a number of unusable doll skeletons laying around now.  But after a while I think I have one that will work.  I am using 10 gauge wire and fiber fill.  Still working it out.  Here are a couple of pics so far.

The beginning again

Well after sculpting a few heads over the weekend I have narrowed down one for completion. This sad little expression just kind of happened and I love it.  Now to build the perfect armature for her.  I have off tomorrow so I have time to figure out what I'm  doing with that.  Started the painting of the head and like where it's going so far.  I ordered a bunch of Tibetan lambs wool in light pink for her hair and have tons of tea stained fabric.  Now to think about why she is so sad.  Hmmm

Started a few things...finished nothing.

Didn't finish anything today but started a bunch of projects, there are just way too many little creatures trying to get out of this brain all at once.

I started the morning off tea staining cheese cloth and fabric.  They came out great and can't wait to use them on the little outfits for my new creations.

Moon

Finished my little moon shelf sitter.  Think I'm going to have to pick some more paper clay up this week.  Definitely can make some great lite weight but durable Christmas ornaments with this product.  My new favorite product is Gel Stains by Americana.  Great for antiquing.

Moon Box

First time using paper clay.  I don't like sculpting with it as much as I like the Super Sculpty and I hate having to wait 3 days before I can paint it but I do like the light durable end result.  I will definitely give this clay another try in the future.
He's coming along.  I have a thing for the moon.  Here is a mixed media piece that a friend and I collaborated on recently.  Live by the sun - Love by the moon.

Well she is done.  She is now living on a vintage table in our living room under my altered art piece Dead Dreams.  I had a blast making her.  It's all one giant learning process but I am in love with this medium.  Now onto the next big project.  I have something in mind but in the meantime I have also been working on some smaller projects and gifts for friends and family.  I am also really intrigued by ball jointed dolls, I think there just might be a class in my future.

Hands & Feet

Ideally, I would have loved skeleton hands but but I didn't think they would hold up so I went with a more solid sculpted hand.  The shoes were copied from a 18th century school girl boot.

I think I may paint brown bones on the hands.

Coming right along

She's already starting to take shape.

Today I am going to try out some crackle mediums.  I bought a few the other day to try out.  I'm going for a aged porcelain look for the skull.

First picture of My Skeleton Doll

I sculpted the head out of Super Sculpty.  I love this product.  Sculpty clay has come a long way in 20 years.

Working on a Skeleton Doll

Okay, I know it's kind of been done to death but not by me and I'm kind of on a skull kick this week.  I wanted something to go with a new piece of altered art I did for my living room.
