The Traveling Cockatiel
My friend's pet cockatiel had flown away some time ago, she came  into her life as she had left her life, through an open window.  I sat with her a few weeks ago as she told me the story and born in my mind was the Traveling Cockatiel,  a One of a Kind art doll that I had to make for that friend

Polymer Clay and glass

I have just discovered that Polymer Clay works well with glass objects.  I had an inexpensive glass vase, sculpted right on top it and baked it at the recommended 270 degrees for 15 minutes.  The glass will not crack at this temperature and the clay actually bonds to the glass.

Artist Block

Was a touch blocked this evening.  The body is willing but the mind just won't follow.  I kept at it and this little gal emerged.  Don't know what direction I'm going in with her but I'm not too unhappy with the sculpt at this point.

Art Doll Quarterly

Was oh so happy last night to hear that My Freak Show Art Doll piece was published in the Spring issue of Art Doll Quarterly Magazine.  ADQ is by far one of my favorite publications.  The magazine is full of wonderful photographs of some of the best art doll artist's work out there and I am honored to have had my piece chosen to be in this issue.

Iron Maiden - Killers Art Doll

Here is the third and I think last Iron Maiden Art Doll I will be making for now.  Iron Maiden was my Sister's favorite band when we were teenagers.  Our bedroom walls were covered with posters of the band and their famous mascot Eddie.

He is made almost entirely of polymer clay and hand painted with acrylic paint.  His axe and sneakers are 3D printed and hand painted.  His wig is made of Tibetan Lamb's wool.  He stands 17 inches high.

Color Fast Fabric Sheets by June Tailor inc.

Picked this product up accidentally, I thought I was buying iron on transfer paper.  Well, it turned out to be a happy accident.  Sew-in Colorfast Fabric Sheets for your ink jet printer by June Tailor Inc.. is a great new find for me and so I had to share.
I'm working on a Sideshow piece and needed to make a vintage looking banner for the backdrop.  I figured the easiest way to achieve this was to use an iron on transfer.  After pulling the Colorfast fabric sheets out of the package I realized that they were in fact fabric tacked onto heavy paper.  You print directly onto the fabric side, let dry for 15 minutes and then peel off the paper backing.  You do not have to put it through the printer as a mirror image.
They are a little pricey.  About $10.00 for 3 sheets, but if you have a specific project in mind they are worth the cost.  I think this product would be fabulous for all the quilters I know.

Below is my Sideshow piece, still a work in progress.

How cool is this banner!

I even added grommets

E-clipse E-cigarette Jewelry

I have been working on this project for the last 2 years and it's finally seeing the light of day. I am thrilled with the end result up till now. To think that when I first came up with the concept I was in my studio hammering and soldering metal trying to make my first prototype. The E-clipse, e-cigarette pendant has come a long way since then. I wear them all of the time now and have given them to close friends and family to try out and the response has been great. The online store has finally opened.   I am also working with a New York manufacturing company to have a couple of the designs made available in stainless steel. Can't wait!  Taking one step at a time for now. I'm just excited to finally get the project off the ground!

Le Cheile Arts & Music Festival and Clonabreany House Ireland 2013

Traveled to Ireland this month with the band Walker & the brotherhood of the grape ( www.brotherhoodofthegrape.com ).  They were asked to play the Le Cheile Arts & Music Festival held in the town of Old Castle.  We also had the exceptional good fortune to be put up at Clonabreany House (http://www.clonabreanyhouse.ie/)  .  What a magnificent place it is.  The old Irish cottages and land have been refurbished  to it's original grandeur.
Ireland is truly one of the most exquisite places I have ever visited with it's picturesque scenery and  incredibly friendly people.
